Nothing is published until it has been independently checked
Verification is the reason a sponsor can give with confidence. It is carried out by a verification officer or an approved local partner, and it is recorded in full.
What verification checks
- The identity of the submitting institution or authorized representative is confirmed.
- Official documents, registration and letters of request are reviewed.
- The number of beneficiaries is confirmed rather than accepted as stated.
- Quotations and unit prices are checked against reasonable local costs.
- A site visit is carried out where the value, the risk or the beneficiary group requires it.
- The need is checked against the register so it is not already funded elsewhere.
- The proposed support is assessed for safety, appropriateness and dignity.
- Any conflict of interest between submitter, verifier and vendor is declared and recorded.
Controls behind the checks
Higher scrutiny for sensitive cases
Needs involving children, medical circumstances or high value receive deeper verification and require two authorized approvers before publication.
Separation of duties
The person who verifies a need is never the person who approves it, allocates funds to it or accepts its delivery proof.
Everything is attributable
Every decision records who made it, when, and on what evidence. The record is append-only; corrections are made by reversal, never by overwriting.
